“Richard and I have fished together many times. He is in the 20% of anglers that catch 80% of the fish and is knowledgeable, patient, and good to talk to. When we last fished the R Avon together, the first evening was fine and we caught a number of Grayling and Trout, but the second day looked like a wash out - a long heavy storm meant the river had burst its banks and looked unfishable. Undaunted Richard showed me how to switch techniques on the main river and to target some tributaries. After another good day’s fishing, the Riverkeeper told us the river was the worst he’d seen it in years, but also that Richard and I had landed more trout and grayling than any other anglers in more than 2 years.
